Description

This Building Block Type belongs to Working Area Security & Support (SS). This facility is meant to assist in system administration, by collecting a system's configuration, and sending it to an administration facility. "Configuration" in this respect can mean two things:

  • parameters that can be altered so as to influence the operating of the facility ("system settings");
  • data on the facility that only describe the facility ("system information").

Collection can take place in different ways, e.g. using an "agent" in the facility to be administered, or using a configuration publishing method that is already present in the facility. The configuration information can then be transferred to the administrating facility using common infrastructure (e.g. email) or proprietary means.

When modeling, this facility can be placed either in the administration facility pattern, or in the pattern whose facilities are to be administered.
