Description

SAP provides the possibility to install several components independently in one single database (MCOD). Multiple Components in One Database is a feature in the installation process for SAP NetWeaver based SAP components.

ArchiSurance Guideline

MCOD will not be used by ArchiSurance. Due to the different usage characteristics of the several SAP applications, MCOD will provide a suboptimal performance solution in the ArchiSurance specific situation.

Also it complicates the back-up and recovery procedures, it is not possible to restore on of the logical databases, only the physical database. Thus, a restore will put all applications back to the same point in time, something that is not desirable in the ArchiSurance situation.
