Architectural Elements of type "Element type software" are contained in this class. "Element type software" in this respect means that the architect makes certain statements about the software used to realize (parts of) an infrastructure facility. Examples would be prescription of

• the use of certain software algorithms, e.g. Blowfish encryption;
• use of a class of software, e.g. Open Source software;
• use of a type of software, e.g. a content management system (CMS);
• a high-level compatibility with other infrastructure (software) components, e.g. "compatible with java 5 and newer".

Care must be taken not to specify too detailed software requirements!
