Description
This Building Block Type belongs to Working Area Server (SE). This facility offers to process structured data for its users, i.e. it controls the organization, querying, and retrieval of "structured data". An example of a Data Engine is a database system. The facility may offer one or more of these functions:
- a "modeling language"
- a "query language"
- a "transaction mechanism"
Note that the facility does not cater for the storage of structured data (other than intermediate storage); to that end, the facility should be paired with a Structured Data Store facility.
