Description
This Building Block Type belongs to Working Area Server (SE). A Presentation Engine facility acts on input to and output from a facility. It is used to provide a user interface and/or to format messages and/or other data that are exchanged with/from that facility.
A Presentation Engine facility can be deployed to enhance user interaction in situations where data transport capabilities are limited. Application of this facility in this way can significantly reduce the bandwidth that is required between the user and the application, e.g. when consulting a large database.
Examples of Presentation Engine facilities are:
- a web server;
- a facility serving "thin clients".
